A Soldier, Unmasked - The Hero's Successor

Sketches for a protagonist - an underwhelming young man with incredibly large shoes to fill. I'm trying to feel out the style of these characters - I haven't exactly decided what these soldiers, under their helmets, should look like, or in what style they should be drawn. I started making this guy look younger in recent drawings, to kind of emphasize his inexperience. The effect of that decision can be seen in the sketches below. These might be the first drawings of this character that I've liked so far, so I may continue developing him in this direction.

Other news - related. A website, of sorts, will be going up for this li'l project soon. It'll be related to all our other dorky, indie game dev goodness.

I was trying to figure out on this page which of his features I really wanted to emphasize. The eyes are a big part of it. He looks naive, doesn't he?

In the lower-right, he may look to young, but this kind of main character suits my needs right now. Transitioning into a muscle-bound soldier may be tough, so I'm gonna have to start showing some of the characters to be a little more lanky in their uniforms - not unlike the actors from Japanese Super Sentai tokusatsu programs.
